The Marion Archibald Numismatic Research Fund

Thanks to a generous bequest from the estate of the late Marion MacCallum Archibald (d. 2016), the Royal Numismatic Society is able to make awards from this fund to promote research in the coinage and monetary history of the British Isles, AD 410 to 1662.

The Fund is able to distribute award/s of up to £1500 per year. Proposals are welcome from researchers of any age or career stage, and applicants do not need to have an academic affiliation. Proposals should address the coinage and monetary history of the British Isles, AD 410 to 1662.

Projects with a clear output, either digital or in print, are desirable.

Applications should be made to the Society by 28th February or 31st August each year using our standard application form. You will be asked for:

  • a description of your intended project;
  • a description of how you intend to spend the grant money;
  • details of two referees, who must be academics of recognised standing;
  • a curriculum vitae.
