John Casey Numismatic Research Fund

Thanks to a generous bequest from the estate of the late Patrick John Casey (d. 2016), The Royal Numismatic Society is able to make awards from this fund in order to promote numismatic research.

The John Casey Numismatic Research Fund is able to distribute up to £8,000 per year to various projects, with individual grants awarded up to a maximum of £2,500.

Proposals are welcome from researchers of any age or career stage, and applicants do not need to have an academic affiliation. Proposals may be for research on any time period or geographical area, as long as there is a numismatic focus.

Applicants must outline their research proposal and up to three questions they intend to address in their research.

Projects with a clear output, either digital or in print, are desirable.

Applications should be made in writing to the Society by 31st December each year. The application should consist of:

  • application form
  • a curriculum vitae of the applicant;
  • two references (of about 150 words) from academics or museum curators of recognised standing

The applicant is responsible for arranging for his or her referees to send the references in confidence directly to the Society by the closing date.

References and your CV should be emailed to Joe Cribb: joecribb@btinternet.com.
