Special Publications and Coin Hoards

As well as its annual journal, The Numismatic Chronicle, the Society also produces publications which focus more deeply on various numismatic topics. The Special Publications series includes detailed studies of the coinage of various regions.

All titles published by the Society are listed below, including those which are out of print. Many of our more recent Special Publications, and almost all of our Coin Hoards series, are now free to download using the links below.

Coin Hoards (ISSN 0140 1149)

The earlier Coin Hoards volumes (1 to 7) list hoards from many countries; later volumes collate details of hoards from a particular area. The last general volume was published in 1985. When it became clear that the publication of a separate volume listing coin hoards was too much of a burden on the organisers it was decided to include a hoards section in each volume of The Numismatic Chronicle. This has been done since 1994 (vol. 154), listing both British and foreign hoards, as the separate Coin Hoards publications did. Subsequent volumes in the Coin Hoards series have all been specialist regional studies. See NC 154 (1994), pp. 267-8 for details concerning the change.
