The Malcolm Lyne Fund

Malcolm Lyne (1943–2023) was a well-respected archaeologist, historian and numismatist. His interests were wide with a special focus on late Roman coins and archaeology. On his death he left a generous bequest to the Society and the Society has established an annual prize in his name for the best publication  of the previous three years on late Roman coinage (https://numismatics.org.uk/the-malcolm-lyne-prize-for-late-roman-numismatics/).

Malcolm had a special interest in promoting the engagement of young people in archaeology and numismatics. The Society will therefore use the Fund it has established in his name to support numismatic research by young people, through supplementing its other funds dedicated to giving research grants.
