The Malcolm Lyne Prize for Late Roman Numismatics

In 2024, thanks to a generous bequest from our late Fellow Dr Malcolm Lyne FSA (1943-2023), an annual prize was established for the best book or article(s) published during the previous three years relating to the Late Roman coinage of the Western Empire after the currency reforms of Aurelian.

  • The value of the prize will be £2,000.
  • Nominations are welcomed from outside of Council; these must be sent by 31st December to Andrew Brown, at andrew.brown@ashmus.ox.ac.uk
  • The Council reserves the right to make no award if in its opinion no work of sufficient quality is nominated.
  • The Council of The Royal Numismatic Society reserves the right to make no award in any given year, if entries are not of a sufficiently high standard. The award shall not be made to any candidate who has won it previously.
